The medical centre based at Manor Road is set to close.  The plan is to relocate to a site on the far edge of west Chellaston.  This would leave the centre of the village without a doctors' surgery.  The Primary Care Trust (PCT) has already given the green light to the plans, but the Residents' Association believes that whilst west Chellaston does require additional facilities, it is wrong to leave the centre with none, especially when the Red Lion site remains free for development.  Planning permission for the new facility has been granted.  We would urge residents to write to the PCT if they share our concerns. Their address is:
Derwent Court
1 Stuart Street
Derby

Chellaston School intends to build changing rooms and create an all weather sports pitch with floodlighting on its land adjacent to the footpath off Swarkestone Road, after they were granted planning permission on 26th February.  Local residents have cited potential noise and light pollution problems along with increased traffic and parking on nearby roads since the facility will be open until 9.30pm weekdays, 6.30pm on Saturdays and 1.30pm Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The residents however have not given up and have started legal proceedings against Derby City Council.  More information here. Results of the second round of the Key Club can also be seen on this page.
