The all weather
pitch application has been passed BUT the residents who objected have
started legal proceedings against the council. Phil Bailey 13th May 09 **
Surely I am not
the only Chellaston resident to be in favour of the above proposal?
There is a lot of negative talk about the development on the pages and
I would like to see the other side of the story aired as well! Footie mad parent (Name supplied) 2nd Dec 09 **
In reply to
footie mad parent: Yes, let’s have the best in Chellaston but not in the wrong place. We all work for a better Chellaston and I think if the opening hours were amended or the money spent on the pitch already in Chellaston that is under used, a lot of our money would not be wasted by the council on this case Please contact me to discuss, if you want to know the true facts about this case Phil Bailey 7th Dec 09 PS I have spent the last 20 years coaching rugby in the area so I am not against sport...just against get rich quick developments riding on the backs of good sporting. **************
High Trees Surgery
The proposal by the High Trees Health Centre to
relocate from the centre of Chellaston to a remote location on the
West Chellaston estate, which was reported on Setember 4, has now
taken a further step towards coming to fruition with an application
for planning permission being submitted (DER 08/09/00976/PRI).
Whilst there is certainly a need for the rapidly
expanding housing development of West Chellaston to have its own
doctor's practice, this should not be to the detriment of the majority
of Chellaston's residents, who appreciate the present accessible
location of High Trees Medical Centre. The Chellaston Residents'
Association's own research suggests that a move by the practice away
from the centre would not be welcomed by many of its patients, who may
decide to vote with their feet if the move goes ahead.
The comment by the Primary Care Trust that the new
location has been chosen because of the lack of available land in the
centre of Chellaston is, in fact, untrue, as there is a perfect
location just opposite the present surgery - the former Red Lion
public house. This building could be easily converted in to a medical
centre, has the advantage of ample parking provision and is served by
buses from all parts of Chellaston. This site could be acquired if
the PCT and the practice moved quickly.
It is about time that the PCT considered the needs
of the residents of Chellaston and not just those of the doctor's
practice.

12th Sept 09 ******************** Skateboarding at Pit Close Rec Me and my mates all skateboard and we were extremely annoyed when we learned that the half pipe at Pit Close rec had been demolished. We would like to know the reason for it been demolished and whether or not a new skate park will be built in its place or somewhere else in Chellaston. We understand that most people find us annoying and we accept that, therefore we need a place to skate and the council seem to have demolished that place.
